- Why are the rates so low? (What’s the catch?)
We have developed relationships with over 100 Grand Mayan and Mayan Palace owners. You are renting directly from these timeshare owners,
who are mostly just covering their costs for time they cannot use. You have to book earlier than regualr hotels and you have to
pay a deposit up front and the full amount 45 days before you go. In exchange you get luxury accomodations for less than 1/2 the
usual price.

- Do we have to attend a timeshare presentation?
Absolutely, positively NOT !! You are going as the guest of an owner. They will offer you a tour of the
resort (read sales presentation) and usually 15% off your food bill. If that is worth it, feel free. Also,
feel free to say know. The sales pitch is really quite enthusiastic. [back to top]
- What is the rental process?
- Submit a request to John for him to
do an .
- He will check availability and let you know, usually within 24 hours.
- You confirm you want to book it when you are ready to make a 50% deposit
- The balance is due 45 days prior to the week you rented.
- We provide the required confirmation slip from the resort and a guest letter from the owner
after we receive the final payment.
- You go on a luxury vacation basking in the sun on the beach.

- Are groceries readily available and good quality?
Yes. There are groceries at the resort, but if you are going to cook often, we recommend going to a grocery store in town at least once as a more cost effective alternative.

- How do we know you are legitimate?
Ok, now you’ve hurt our feelings. Seriously, though, you will get a confirmation number from the resort usually before you pay the deposit and you get a guest letter and paper confirmation from us when you pay the balance. You can call the resort and confirm the reservation under yourname.

- Does Mayan Palace have an all inclusive plan?
Generally speaking, no. You may be able to purchase meal packages on check in, but that is not standard practice. But try this, add up what an all inclusive will cost you,
subtract our room rates and that is what you have available to spend on food and activities. You will be impressed.

- What is the maximum number of people per unit?
- Two bedroom unit: 6 adults and 2 kids under 12. Up to 8 adults in Grand Mayan
- One bedroom unit: 4 adults and 2 kids
- Master Room (Studio): 2 adults and 2 kids

- Can I rent less than a week?
Sorry, no. Rentals are for one week beginning only on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Some people have found that the rates are so low, it may be worth it to rent a week and use only 4 or 5 days. You need to make special arrangement if you are not checking in on the first day of the rental, however.

- Which unit am I renting?
It’s a secret :-) Seriously, we own the time, not specific units, so you get assigned a unit when you arrive. You can make requests, but there are no guarantees. However, all the units are of equal, top notch quality.

- Is Mayan Palace kid friendly?
Mayan Palace resorts are committed to kids. They have kids programs every day and babysitting available. Mexico in general loves kids.

- Do I need a passport?
Since December 31, 2006 a passport has been required for travel to Mexico.

- Are there VCR's or DVD's in the rooms?
Actually... no. But hey, with resorts like these, it would be a crime to sit in the room and watch TV. There are
a few limite cable channels, but remember what we said about a crime.
