Mexican – In Bucerias on the beach. Old restaurant right on the beach in the far North end of Bucerias. Great shrimp, good food, very reasonable. A fun place to eat when you have to have a break from all of the four and five star restaurants. You won’t be disappointed. Check out the $ sign. Great place to watch the sun go down.

Cafe de Artiste

– $$$$$ – Four blocks from the Malecon, next door to Si Senior, downtown Puerto Vallarta. This restaurant has probably the best reputation as a Gourmet Restaurant in town. The reputation is well deserved, if you can get beyond the dollar signs this is a “don’t miss” place. Great food and great service in a beautifull restaurant. We will definitely go again. (and again) Has to be in my top five ! Ambiance A Food A

Adauto’s Beach Club Restaurant

Juan Pedro’s note: Bucerias is the next town up the coast from Nuevo Vallarta. Fun little town with a nice mix of Expats and locals. We did not find this restaurant while we were there, but found it raved about on three different forums.

They say the food quality is superb for very reasonable prices. the owner is friendly albeit a bit "touristy" oriented.

Directions to get there: once in Bucerias turn left at Alfredo V. Bonfil street and proceed towards the beach. Turn right at Del Pacifico and follow the road to the north end of restaurant row to Adauto’s.

Fish and Shrimp the big attraction here.  Please leave comments if you have eaten here.

Mark’s Bar and Grill

Italian. This beautiful restaurant in Bucerias is a not to miss place. No disappointments here, best shrimp in town. Be sure to ask what they got in fresh that day. Fresh daily made bread and flatbreads. In my top three restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. Drinks are small and expensive.

09 update – Several subsequent visits to Marks in November 08, and Jan 09 changed this place from "do not miss" to “do not waste your time” restaurant in Bucerias. What a shame, it’s still a beautiful place.

Juan Pedro’s note: Bucerias is the next town up the coast from Nuevo Vallarta. Fun little town with a nice mix of Expats and locals. We loved this restaurant a couple of years back.  We would give the ambience an A- , but there was live music when we were there.

Would like to hear of anyone else’s recent experiences.

Archie’s Wok

This is the first in a series of reviews provided by one of our Mayan owners, Paul Gousset.  (pronounce goo- say).  We haven’t tested these, but they seem to make sense, so we will publish all of his reviews over the next few months.

Asian cuisine. Located near the beach in the south edge of Centro, near old town. They are closed Sunday and do not take reservations. Known for their barbecued pork ribs and light battered calamari. Live music after 7:00 PM (Harpist), it is a lot more than just a Chinese restaurant. Go early and stroll to the beach to bargain with the vendors and have a Margarita. Reservations only for eight or more.

$$$-  under $40 with one drink
