Hacienda San Angel

- puerto vallarta restaurants Jan 26, 2010 No Comments

Mexican contemporary This is the most beautiful Luxury Boutique Hotel and restaurant that I have ever seen. It is a culmination of five old Mexican Villas combined. The owner, Janice Chatterton, a transplant from San Francisco has been building this beautiful resort for the last 15 years. If ever there was a five star resort/restaurant in Mexico, this is it. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor once owned two of the Villas that now make up a part of this resort. The food and service are excellent. Can’t say enough, see for yourself. www.haciendasanangel.com/index.html

Fajita Banana

In the Marina Vallarta. Lunch here three times, great BBQ ribs and the BEST FRIES !! Third time our ribs were not enjoyable, overcooked and dry but we ate them anyway, good flavor.

09 update – Ribs still hit and miss – order them only when they’re being grilled in the front of the place. Excellent MIXED MOLCAJETE served in hot lava pot.

EL COLEGUITA RESTAURANT

- puerto vallarta restaurants Jan 12, 2010 No Comments

Traditional Mexican in the Marina. This place is right on the docks in the Marina. To the left as you enter the Marina, past six other almost empty restaurants you will find one with about 30 tables that are all full. Take a number, order a margarita and wait for your table. The special there for 10 pesos is shrimp served four ways, or fish served four ways. You will also fine an open bottle of Tequila on your table for your consumption, all you want. Dessert is complimentary as is a glass of Kahlua and Cream. Liked it so much that we went back twice in one week.

09 update – after four more trips everything is still great

EL BRUJO

- puerto vallarta restaurants Jan 05, 2010 No Comments

Authentic Mexican in Bucerias on the Bay. Beautiful location looking out onto the Bay of Banderas. The drinks were nothing to talk about but the food needs a lot to be said about – TERRIBLE. I was served a Mixed Molcajete in a Lava Pot that should be steaming hot. I could pick it up with both hands, and should have !! If any one else at the table would have been comfortable with waiting, I would have complained. Enough time and words wasted on this one,

nothing there to go back for.
