Pief (restaurant)
Five star French in the Grand Velas Resort. This restaurant is located in the Grand Velas resort in Nuevo Vallarta. Reservation required and one of the few restaurants that require a dress code. The Service is exquisite, white table cloth’s. The escargot may be the best in the world. The meal and evening were just beautiful. This is a place to take someone to impress them. All meals were memorable. A Top Five !
$$$$$- over 50$ – might as well have two drinks

MayanRental Home > FAQ Home > all-mayan-resorts-general-questions> why-low-rates
Our rate are low because we connect you with timeshare owners who aren’t using all their weeks. The rental covers the maintenance fee and puts a little cash in their pocket. So our rates end up being usually 1/2 of what you would pay for the same unit if you booked directly with resort.
Better Perks
Not only do you get better rates, but you get more perks that only time share owners and their guests can enjoy. That includes free access to the waterpark in Grand Mayan Acapulco, free access to the top of the line exercise facilities at all resorts, and free transportation to the resort in Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta and Los Cabos and Mazatlan.
The Only Catch
The catch is the extra steps of having us check availability and pay before you go. We have Instantly Available Units that we have already paid for and pre-reserved. But, if those don’t work you will need to fill out an Inquiry Form We try to get back to you quickly.
And you will also have to pay before you go, rather than at the resort.

Can we drink the water?
MayanRental Home > FAQ Home > all-mayan-resorts-general-questions> can-we-drink-the-water
Certainly! The water is totally drinkable in all the Mayan Resorts. In addition all the tourist area restaurants use filtered water. DO NOT LET WATER FEARS prevent you from enjoying Mexico.
However when you travel to areas like the Mayan ruins or up into the mountains in Puereto Vallarta you should buy bottles of water on site. Make sure it is still sealed. Otherwise COKE (without ice) or beer are safe to drink.

The sun is always shining, perfect day for the beach. What??? The currents are too treacherous? Welcome to the tip of the Baja where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortes collide. Not to worry, there are some excellent beaches, they are just a little tricky to find.
The first two I’m going to tell you about are on corridor between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. They are not really marked well, but the first one is called Playa Santa Maraia and is between kilometer marker 12 and 13. I’m going to go ahead and assume you know it is on the ocean side. Sheltered from the currents, this is a beautiful beach for swimming and snorkeling.
The second beach is Playa Chilenos. There is a gravel parking lot with no real trail markings between kilometer markers 14 and 15. Again, beautiful once you find it.
The third beach is called Playa Cerritos. It is on the road north out of cabo san lucas (hwy 19) around kilometer 65. They just don’t seem to mark beaches around here !! This one is a surfing beach with a very strong current, but not as dangerous as the beaches at many of the resorts. After going down the wrong two track once, you will find the parking lot and here in the middle of no where with a bar called Cerritos Beach Club !!with a big Harley sitting in the middle between the plasma TV and the pool table. There is even wireless and they will loan you a laptop !!! I read somewhere there is even live jazz on Sundays!!

located in Old Town, this restaurant quickly became one of our favorites. Great variety, owner is the cook, and the price can’t be beat! They make a five pepper steak for about 120 pesos that you would not mind paying $35.00 for in the states. The girls love his fish and chips and the burgers are huge and delicious. May be close to my top five for food, pricing and over-all quality. Dined there 10 times.
09 update – about four more meals there, try the whole fish or garlic shrimp !

We picked an ATV tour at random. Not even sure how we found them. It was a winner. The folks at Carisuva have good equipment, are knowledgable about the desert and do a great tour. We explored the desert, blasted up and down dunes and generally had a great time.
At one point our guide said he saw a couple manta rays jumping out of the water. I thought he had been hitting the tequila too hard , but we saw the same thing on a kayak trip a couple of days later !! (stay tuned for that post)
They also do less fun rhino vehicles and horses, which we almost did instead. We had a rental car, so we drove there, it is on the coast road north of Cabo San Lucas. There are a couple of them close together,so be careful which one. Get directions from the Ranch.
One disclaimer, we were there in the off season and there were only 3 of us on tour. It might be a little less exciting if there was a big parade of ATV’s. The website is Rancho Carisuva Website
