Resources and Links–Maps
I’m a very visual person, so maps are absolutely necessary for me to have before I go anywhere. Here are three of my favorite sites to help me plan for vacation:
Do I need a Passport?
MayanRental Home > FAQ Home > all-mexico-travel-questions> do-i-need-a-passport
As you probably know by now, since early 2007, passports have been required for entry into Mexico for US citizens. Also, if you are taking any children that are not yours, you will need a letter of permission from their parents as well as their passport. The U.S. government is not the fastest paper processors in the world, so get your application in early.

Do we need to rent a car?
MayanRental Home > FAQ Home > all-mexico-travel-questions> do-we-need-to-rent-a-car
That is a difficult question. We always do, but we love to explore and have the freedom to come and go as we please. Riviera Maya now has an inexpensive shuttle to Playa del Carmen, but the other resorts will require a cab or bus to get into town. If you want to primarily relax on the resort, skip the car rental and take an orgnized tour or two and take a cab into town when you want to go.
