We’re going to the Puerto Penasco Mayan Palace and need to get there from the Phoenix airport since there aren’t international flights into the area yet. Sometimes they offer free transportation one way, but we didn’t catch that deal. We also wanted a car down there, so I looked into rentals, but if not I’d have considered taking a shuttle service. They run about $200 per person round trip.

I found 4 rental agencies who rent cars that can be driven up to 250 miles into Mexico (there might be more, though) Advantage, Dollar, Enterprise, and Hertz.

Because Puerto Penasco is drivable from the U.S., it fills up incredibly quickly. There is more availability during the coldest winter months, but otherwise, we need to book 6 1/2 months in advance to be sure of getting the unit you want . We do not split the weeks into 3 days or 4 days due to logistical difficulties.

However, we are always happy to check availability. Sometimes we get lucky and our rates are great.
