Mayan Palace units are less than 10 years old and in great shape. There is an Italian, an Asian, a Cuban and a Mexican restaurant on site, in
addition to the poolside restaurant and the buffet breakfast and dinner at del Lago.
The pool area of the Mayan Palace Riviera Maya is available to both Mayan Palace and Grand Mayan guests. It is a very large expanse of connected pools that kids love to explore.
the edge of the pool area is right overlooking the beautiful Caribbean beach,. The friendly wait staff is ubiquitous. Happy hour is 2 for one, but be careful. If you order 2 you will get 4, no matter how carefully you explain it. We like the Picassos, but they are a bit pricey. You can also order food from the snack restaurant. Some of the nacho options are delicious.
There is always something going on around the pool area. Truth be told, the bartending lessons, are a bit corny and touristy. Depends on how much you are willing to act stupid for free drinks. They do some cool things ( by my standards) like an intro to scuba lesson where they let you try out the equipment and see if you would ever want to pursue it further.
There is a kids are where the staff always has something fun going on for the younger crowd. The really younger crowd (5 to 10 years old). The pool area is beautifully lit at night and is a very a nice place to take a stroll after dark. Just don’t get shocked by the occasional staff with scuba gear cleaning the pool.
