Mayan Palace or Grand Mayan: What's the Difference?

What is the difference between Mayan Palace and Grand Mayan? First of all they are both beautiful and impeccably maintained. The units are in different buildings on the same grounds in resorts that have both. They mostly share the same facilities, although there are pool areas in Riviera Maya and Nuevo Vallarta that are exclusively for Grand Mayan guests.
